Brief Description

This course is a progression from the Improvers course or to further one’s French language if returning to the language or after the completion of at least two years’ introductory course. The class will introduce key structures through a variety of authentic reading, writing and listening materials. A variety of class activities will be used including role-play, games, listening to audio clips, French songs and viewing of French films. Learners will be encouraged to engage in increasingly sophisticated conversations and express opinions on a wide range of topics, linked to everyday situations.
There is a test at the end of each term, as well as weekly homework and continuous informal assessment performed through class activities.
Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?
The course is suitable for learners who have already studied French for two years or have completed the Improvers course and have a good understanding of the structure and basic grammar of the language. Learners should have a sufficient vocabulary to describe people, places and situations and be able to express their opinions with simple sentences. They should also have an adequate knowledge of personal pronouns and the indicative verbs (present, immediate future and past perfect tenses). However, there will be a recap of this grammar at the beginning of the course.
